Up here in New Hampshire, the dog sled tour teams are on hiatus. The weather is doing it’s typical December tease: snow rain ice! we need real snow, and soon! Lots of stockings were stuffed with dog sled tour gift certificates from Barking Brook Dog Sled Adventures, llc. We have to carry out Santa’s wishes and provide these tours!
Northern New England Sled Dog Trade Fair 2011

Great day today….I had a wonderful time at the sled dog trade fair today.

I saw old friends, bought supplies and checked out new products.

This year I went to listen to the speakers Rene Marchildon and Mike Ellis. Very worthwhile! I wish I could have stayed for the pot-luck dinner but momma-duty called.

Tomorrow there are more fun events: rig race followed by more special topics from some of the speakers.
Click this Sled dog Trade Fair Link to see the schedule, speaker’s topics and other information.

Mousecapades

We keep having crazy mice set up housekeeping in awkward areas INSIDE the kennel. One place was between the old and new roof of the large play area dog house. Two chose underneath a regular dog house. They are all driving the dogs insane!!!
The first mouse got away. Bodhi snatched the next one. Java Bean, Bodhi’s big brother, snatched the other one but then got grossed out and coughed the little wriggler right out! That’s you get for training a dog to be a show dog! Both boys are great sled dogs but Bodhi was trained and titled in Rally Obedience and Java Bean was trained to show in the AKC show ring….
:)

Hopeful times for new puppies this fall!

In a mad dash of inspiration I drove 4 hours to my friends house to retrieve her handsome old dog Bonzo. Bonzo is a dog I have loved and admired for years. My sweet girl Pema was nearly ready to mate and I decided against my idea to breed her to Bodhi.
The drive was long, but at least I had Bonzo for company on the way back.

But alas it was not to be, at age 12, Bonzo was beyond this type of frollicking silliness.

So, I did let Bodhi and Pema mate.

And we are hopefully for puppies in about 2 months time! They will be all white, since both parents are white. They should be: sweet, hard working, intelligent, quiet, super athletes, sled dog leaders and GORGEOUS! But we will have to wait and see what really comes out…

Today my husband is driving Bonzo back home to my friend Valerie in Worthington, MA.
Sad to see him go. But..at least we are still hopeful for fall puppies!
