BBSDA's 2012 Dog Sled Expedition Plans

BBSDA plans to do a dog sled expedition late in the 2011-2012 dog sledding season. After most of our dog sled tours are done, the dogs will be ready for a long dog sledding excursion. All our happy dog sled tour customers are welcome to cheer us on! You will have helped the team get ready for the big trip.

Our plan is to start the dog sled expedition from my home town and head to the top of NH. We plan to do this in about 5 days, following as closely as is safe and possibly where the Northern Pass is proposed to be constructed. This would be mainly route 11 and then heading west-ish near Jefferson to get to route 5 to continue the trip north. The route should we drive a car is about 132 miles. The route following snow mobile trails with the dogsled team will be longer.

I will be taking an expedition partner and the double driver dog sled. Expedition partner TBA. Gear transport and accommodations TBA…

I hope to coordinate with each of the snowmobile club’s whose territory we will pass through on this dog sled excursion.

I also hope to generate some interest in sponsoring our expedition team from people who are like minded in their wish to see the Northern Pass project stopped. I will be taking photos and video and posting to the BB Blog and news page as well as to our face book page and twitter account.

A wish list has started, starting with this fascinating software: Backwoods GPS Trail’s NH Snowmobile trail maps for GPS
